THE PROUD MOTHER
After 20 years of war in Mozambique, this “protective and proud” mother , was left with three children, in a poor country with no work and no income. Her eldest son, a boy aged 14, started his own little venture collecting clay, making bricks and various clay products, that his mother, with this little baby, sells to tourists on the roadside, day after day. That is their only income for survival.
I lived in Mozambique for 11 years, just after the war, I supported this family by purchasing all my clay bricks and pots from this mother.

Wonderful capture. Dont worry about the title “professional”. This is a top notch photo. Some “professionals” dont take this quality. It is a loosely used title that many throw around for status.

I am happy to see that you helped a family Mags.
But remember, Mozambique wasn´t a poor country before its independence.
Hunger did not exist and there was work for everybody who wanted to work.

Hi tereza, I know Moz very well, lived in Komatiporrt for 45 years! Moz was like, before and after the war, my home town. I still and will always love moz. I actually helped, when the war broke out, feeding, recorded and the placing, escpecially lost children, in homes. I still have friends and school friends from moz. Anyhow thank you so much for your time and kind comment, really appreciate it! take care xx
