lies (poem)

it’s all lies
the pretty faces
hiding ugly truths
the bright eyes
drawing you in
to make you believe in
meaningless chatter
but
really
just
dragging you
to the killing zone
where they
gut you
pull you apart
and use you
for their own ends
where they
eat your heart
with their teeth
stained red
with your blood
with their
bight eyes
glowing in the dark
their pretty faces
hiding
the monsters underneath
they’re out to get you
for their own ends
and they’re right there
in plain sight
but you don’t see
their evil nature
you just see
their pretty lips move
but not the lies they utter
to catch you
and get you
and tear you to pieces
with their pretty faces
smeared with your blood.

Artist's Description

Make of it what you want. Sometimes we need to be savage, sometimes we need to see the monsters for what they are. Be brave.
