the long road home (poem)

I lost my way
amongst the stars
infatuated by a
gleaming blue light
that shone
ever so bright
twinkling and teasing
until I succumbed
just to find out
how cold it was
burning like ice
freezing my heart
in a gleeful way

I fell from the sky
into the dark
loosing all sense
of direction
feeling nothing
just empty
looking up into
the night sky

what might have been
if I’d just soared untethered
what could have been
if I’d just flown on forever
what should have been
if I’d found the right star

I crawl
on the long road home
to start again
at the beginning.

Home is a strange thing. It’s made up of lots of little things and we never know what they are until we lose them.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

oh,,, dear Sybille.. this brought me to tears.. I was just star gazing the other to a fire I had built for 2.. but then there was only one.. me….your poem sings exactly what I was feeling and thinking while I gazed up at them in bewilderment that my life felt like it was over. but with each twinkle of the a star I was reminded of my children and grandchildren whom need me near not far.. which was some of the words I included in my poem..
I wish you love, light and send hugs home to you♥ linmarie
