the sky above (poem)

the sky above and
the world at your feet

a miracle in one hand
and doom in the other

each single day a wonder
with not a care in the world

not a cloud in the sky
the sun shines every morning

icy winters with frosty snow men
hot summers playing at the beach

the childhood we all wish we’d had
what we dream of
when we’re lonely and old

a marvel to those
who hold it in their memory
a cause for envy to those
who do not

the sky above and
the world at your feet

each and every day we live

if we just look up and out
if we just let go of what was
if we just hope for the best

the sky above
changing colours from
grey to blue and back

the world at our feet
growing smaller minute by minute
and larger the further we look back

the miracles we hold in our hand
grow no dimmer as we grow old
our eyes just no longer look with wonder

fate has held us tight
and let us go again
still here we are
ready for the next chapter

the sky above and
the world at our feet

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

I always remind myself, almost daily, that I have my feet firmly on the ground and my head swimming in the clouds… both are as real as each other, and both need to be felt… in balance whenever possible. xoxo

  • Thanks so much Cos. Very true, but balance sometimes is hard to achieve… xoxo

Seeping Eternity via a huge metaphor of love and encounters. When we love someone…we wish to stretch the line of perception about Time, and break the limitations of our borderlines, skin, soul, and Past. A void is there….clouded with changing days. I love your poetry.
