word puzzle

stringing words together
like daisy chains
to make sense of
what happened
and what didn’t
and where I am to go
or maybe that’s not
my choice
but fate’s or
some mad god’s
who is just waiting
to trip me up
and laugh maniacally
an insane sing-song
going through
my head and syllables
dripping though my fingers
onto the white paper
where they make
little black scratchings
but only help
a little, just a little
to carve the world
into a recognisable shape
that I can hold in my hand
and look at from all sides
still too much mystery
and not enough words
more need to be
written
put down
thrown together
like a weird kind
of word game
or maybe an oracle
let them fall down
and I’ll see what they say
just so I know
where I am going
tomorrow
and maybe the day
after
or who I am or
will be then or
was yesterday
and perhaps
to see what’s
in my heart
that won’t lie still.
