bottom of the list
overlooked
never remembered
quietly dripping
off the page
filling a river
with lavender
and blue
BUT
no time like
today to
wear the red shoes
and go dancing
I thought and
wore my
black glasses
and a coat
to hide my
soul and heart
as it’s no one’s
business
let them see
the red shoes
and think
what they want
a charade
is what it is
they believe
anything
as long as it
wears make-up
a lipstick smile
is as good as a
real one
you never know
it might even be true
and it’s worth a try
maybe
tomorrow.

Poem to go with my illustration red shoes
The fairy tale The Red Shoes is one of the most disturbing and scary ones I know. Andersen wrote a few of those…. however, the picture of the red shoes is one I keep coming back to in my mind. It signifies so much and I’ve tried to explain what it means to me (as a woman) in the poem.
See the illustration to go with it “here”:

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

This is great. I love red shoes, I really really do. And your writing is superb.
yes, Life itself is a charade of lies, truths, and sadness. red shoes hide a lot but people who know will see though, but many still don’t let on because the hurt and lies are everywhere – sigh take care! nice work
