death of a butterfly (poem)

puzzle pieces
odd s and ends
held together
with bits of string

a broken heart
in a paper bag
wrapped with
threads of yarn

a silken butterfly
once pristinely white
shredded, tattered
with ragged wings

a story written
on a dirty wall
scratched deep
inked in blood

the azure of the sky
and fluffy clouds
beckoning to those
still full of hope

the end is waiting
patiently backstage
for its chance
to take a bite

the only hope
is hope itself
a dream, a wish
a hand to hold.

Poem… came to me through something KS said about the image that goes with it…

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

    Beautiful writing.

  • Thank you so much. :-) It would never have happened if KS hadn’t made me think about it differently. LOL

Oh my how these words bring more depth to this image….the kaleidoscope of emotions that hope contains has so many levels and sometimes it is the simple ‘paper’ even though torn of ragged in edge that keeps the story afloat.
Wonderful poetry Sybille….I read this and saw some more …. love it when we can pull back the curtains even further..xoxox

  • Thank so much KS, without you that wouldn’t have happened. I’d already closed the curtain, but you made me look again. I am so glad you did. xoxoxo ♥

like a slow nova…burning bright…slowly falling…increasing speed…fading away…never was. Haunting picture you weave here Sybille. Fave.
