new beginnings

this is the end

to all pain
to all torment
to all attempts
to everything

no funeral
no drunken wake
no flower tributes
no grave marker

questions without answers
left behind
answers to all questions
flapping in the wind

this is the end

a desert dry and cold
where once
there was fruitful land
and hope

letting go
but not forgotten
moving on
but always on our mind

a line in the sand
a new horizon
a new beginning
somewhere else

This is dedicated to my friend Ali who recently died. Not sure what she’d have thought of having a poem dedicated to her…

poem, poetry, life, death, memory, new beginning, beginning, end

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

Perfect tribute. not just for your loving friend, but for you as well. I know..when some is dying, sometimes even not being really close, if we have a remembering a construing of our soul, related to him..we die again and again. And there is a constant wound, that we lick with our feelings, writings, and even some kind of apprehension . Precious writing, full of Soul and poetic simplicity that makes it more powerful.

  • Thank you so much Rosa. Yes, each death brings back all the others we’ve experienced. :-)
