The Dream Lord's Gift

Betimes Morpheus takes us by the hand
Leads us into the land of times past
Straight to the hours of our discontent
In the shadows of Castle Discordia

Down into the bowels we follow
Step by frightened step
Until we stand trembling
Before the barred door

With a wave of his hand
He opens the locked entrance
Unearthing with his magic
The chamber of our torment

Not to tease us, nor for torture
Nor to make us relive the pain
But to show us the how, the why,
To help us cast off the shackles

Trust him and look
See what really happened
The truth of it, not the terror
Learn and understand

You’re safe in Morpheus’ hands
He will lead you back to the light
Wiser, stronger, with head held high
The nightmare banished for good.

Artist's Description

I woke up with the idea of this in my head today. Sometimes dreams are sent to teach us. I felt I learnt something today. :-)

Castle Discordia is a reference to the Dark Tower series by Stephen King – when Susannah ‘visits’ Castle Discordia with Mia she learns many things… The image of the castle has been on my mind for a long time, I felt it finally found its rightful place in this poem.
