The Ballad of the Ice Queen

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
What shall I do?
Please tell me, do
What shall I do
To prove worthy of you?

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
There is nothing I want of you
       Get out of my sight
       Go take a hike
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
What shall I do?
The sight of you
The scent of you
The sound of you
I am so enamoured with you.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
       Your constant wailing
       You sycophantic wooing
       Your objectionable begging
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
What shall I do?
I get the moon and stars for you
I sing you a song
I do anything for you
I am totally smitten with you.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
I am sick of the sight of you
       Jump of cliff
       Never come back
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
What shall I do?
I’ve tried everything
To make you love me like I do
My heart is heavy and full of pain
If you just took pity on me, please do.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
I never want to ever see you again
       Your obsequious nagging
       Is tiresome and lacking
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
What shall I do?
I am at the end of my wits
I am at rock bottom
Ready to jump
My heart is so heavy with the love of you.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
       Why should I love
       What you cannot?
I am bored and don’t want to know
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, dear Ice Queen
This is how you repay me
All my patient adoring
All my grovelling
All my love for you
Is returned in hate and spite.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave
       Leave me be, please do
       There’s no hate nor spite,
       Only the sincere wish,
       The very reasonable request,
Just leave me be, please do.

Oh Ice Queen, horrible Ice Queen
You worst of all women
You made me love you
Although you never wanted me
You made me prove myself
Although you never cared
It’s all your fault
You miserable wretch
Leave me alone and never call me back.

       Slave, oh miserable Slave,
       Thank the heavens,
       Finally you get it!
I never wanted anything to do with you.
It was all forever in your head
       A phantom of self deception
Now revealed in all it’s misery
       Just leave me, please do
       And never ever come back.

Artist's Description

From my experience in most people’s lives there’s at least one (ab)user-used relationship. A few people seem to get away without having experienced it, but most people have to learn this lesson.

I’ve used the form of a ballad to describe the dynamics and the story line these kind of relationships usually follow and tried to steer away from laying blame on either of the two parties involved.
