Fallen Angel

Flung from Grace
Hell licking at my heels
Flames engulfing me
For nothing but one mistake
Oh vengeful fates
Where is

Flung from Grace
Stranded on a rock
The broiling sky above me
For nothing but one mistake
Oh vengeful fates
Where is

Flung from Grace
Excluded from paradise
Tattered wings
Broken spirit
Bereft of hope
Just one more victim
Of the vengeful fates
Vultures circling
Ready to take a bite
Thor’s hammer
Poised to strike

Flung from Grace
Head held high
Just one more victim
Rising to the challenge
Heart soaring
       with love and exultation
       with joy and triumph
A spirit rising from the ashes
Growing gossamer wings
Making my own rules
Embracing grace of mind and body
Oh vengeful fates
Here it is

Just one more fallen angel.

A poem both about the social, political, and historical framework women work within since Eve, but also the personal feeling of being ‘flung from grace’ when a mistake seems to rock your world and we have to pull ourselves out of the mire and re-invent ourselves.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

OMG that really speaks to me and surely our human predicament!!! The human mind is so judgemental and quick to judge others and so unforgiving – Gosh where is that teaching from those wise people who have come to this planet to guide humanity towards compassion, forgiveness……..it seems that many religious people are sooooooo judgemental and haven’t even listened to the words of their teacher!! We are mortal humans and it is our journey to ‘make msitakes’ whatever ‘mistakes’ are supposed to be – to me it is simply a journey of understanding ourselves and mistakes are part of it. Your writing is SUPERB!

  • Thank you so much Charmiene. That’s it exactly. I’ve always thought we need more philosophers to show us the way to understanding the worlds and ourselves better. xoxo

just one mistake is, sadly, all it takes for the great push into our next mini life. progression comes hard. I love this.

  • Thank you so much Kristin. It’s all a learning experience but made much the harder for not accepting mistakes as part of learning. xo

Poem and art blended in a mystery.
We are all falling once and again,
and the trap is our own weakness.
But that weakness is the glory of humankind.
We will be forgiven, because we are bound to know…death.
And that is the real Fall of our Inocence.
What prize will be given to us for the inconvinience?
    Too hard….
    she is free…from fate…
she is Life and Life is Death..
    and men….
    cannot forgive her..that.

  • Thank you so much Rosa. :-)
