Heaven and Hell

The battle is fought
Deep inside our minds
Each decision or indecision
Balances the scales
And the weight of the feather
Means nothing when you fall like lead

The flames of hell
Sizzling bright fire burning your soul
The snake enticing you with promises
Easier whispered than kept
The angel’s wings keeping you aloft
When darkness falls

Times when hesitation
Can change the fate of the world
Seconds to spare
Before the bomb explodes

Falling and flying are just
       A matter of perception
       A matter of direction
       A matter of great importance

The constant pull
       Between light and dark
       Between evil and good
       Between pleasure and the quest

The battle is fought
Deep inside our minds
Tearing at our soul and
Tugging our heartstrings
Dragging us down and
Lifting us up

Each decision or indecision
Leaves us tied up in the middle
Feeling small and insignificant
When we are so important

The devil is in the detail
And the big picture, too
We don’t grow our wings in a day
But we may start right now.

The battle is fought
Deep inside our minds
Each and every day
Till the final moment
When we find out
If we made a difference.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

Could it be that these six things are all together one and the very texture and form of the problem itself?

  • Thank you so much Blake. Oh yes, I think those six make up the soloution and the problem… and they make life interesting… ;-)

great words. I think we are living heaven and hell, they do not come at a later stage. When we die as give up our body that were were using, we take the next stage in life. just think what we were before we came to use the body and what were we before that? and what is next, I just cant wait :)

  • Thank you so much Declan. I quite like the idea that we learn something different each time we’re around.
