In the end
There is just rage
Anger and bitter words
To tease out
A reaction, any reaction,
Something is better than
Cold indifference
Even black tipped poison darts
Shot right at the heart
To bury a love
That’s no longer
But dying
Day by day
A little death for each
Tick of an infernal clock

Gone from this
Slipped to the
Leaving only dust for the

Little sparkles
Hidden under the
Shards and broken crockery of
       Twisted memories,
       Knives through the back and
       Poisoned letters
Fluttering a final time
Before fizzing out

All the shine
Removed from the glory
That once was ours

All the magic
Removed from the tenderness
That once was ours

All the passion
Removed from tandem hearts
Dissolved into lingering apathy

All gone
Blown away by the winds of time
Like a leaf in Autumn

Leaving the taste of ashes
On my burning lips
Where once sweet kisses
Forever united us.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

For me too this month, this time of year is haunted by such memories, ghosts of the past as ephemeral and fleeting as the love you describe here so poignantly, Sybille. This speaks to me on such a visceral level and your imagery, your phrasing is utterly captivating and evocative. Gorgeous writing. xox

  • Thank you so much Lianne. I hate it when the year draws to a close and winter is on our doorstep… Makes me think too much. I am so grateful for your lovely comments, they always cheer me up! Lots of hugs. xox

incredibly haunting sadness, mixed with a touch of bitter. how my heart feels this loss, how can I not think of it with every falling leaf? so well written. my heart feeling yours. sending hugs. xoxoxoxoxoxooxo

  • Thank you so much Shar. :-) I am just looking out of the window and the sky is a deep blue and against the sky are the autumn leaves in red and rust and gold and a few remaining green leaves. Beautiful… Makes autumn seem not quite so bad. It’s the dark, grey days that get me down… Lots of hugs, xoxoxoxoxo

Sybille, this is such a hard thing. When the fire has gone out and you’re wishing for something to say that would make it different.
    Something is better than
    Cold indifference
My heart goes out to you and I wish you love and peace Sybille.

  • Thank you so much Tony. It was about a memory rather than anything happening right now. :-) Grey days in Autumn always make me think of such melancholy things… :-)
