Chambers Of My Heart

Each one has its place inside me -
Abandoned philosophies
Worlds of my imagination
Treasured memories
Nightmares and spooks
Each breath I take

The enchanted forest of my childhood
Lives right next door to the boarded up room
I’ve erased from memory and mind

Books with their unfolding, never ending stories
Reside besides the smells and sounds of the sea
Waves crashing into soft silken beaches

The shattered glass of broken dreams and distraught heart
Is held together by the engine that drives it all
Day by day, hour by hour till the very last

Words and pictures flowing through my veins
Onto walls of pristine white paper
Filling up the blue blue days of Winter

All hidden behind the outer shell
Of the colours of everyday life
Secured good and tight
Behind lock and key
Each thing has its place
Secrets untold waiting for the light

This is what you’d find
If you cut me open
To see what’s inside

Poem. Not quite sure why I wrote this, but I wondered what my heart would look like if it had rooms for everything I feel and think….

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

Sometimes it scares me how much alike we are, how similarly our minds work and where our thoughts take us. Yes – lol – once again there is a poem in my “simmering pot” with exactly this theme, something I go back to every few days to play with or edit for the day I might think it good enough to post. And then I come here and find my own heart written on your pages along with this incredible work of art and I think, “I do not need to work on that any more. Sybille has said it so perfectly.” This is just such a profoundly beautiful poem Syb – and I would favorite it a dozen times if I could. xox

  • Thank you so much Lianne. Isn’t it a lovely thought that despite all the distance we’re in synch with each other. I so often feel the same about your poems, and it makes me happy that I am not alone in feeling a certain way. Lots of love. xoxo
