I want to be…
A tree in the woods,
branches swaying in the stormy wind
roots digging in the soft moist earth
shedding my leaves in the autumn
starting afresh in the spring
basking in the warm light of a summer sun
shivering in the cold air of a winter’s day.
A raven in the sky,
hollow bones lifting me high above the trees
sharp beak and claws ready for a fight
riding thermals with my wings stretched out
feeling the currents shifting through my feathers
steering with the tips of my tail
scenting changes in fate through the fall of the shadow.
A flower in the meadow,
blossom unfolding to catch the sun
golden stamen glittering in the light
sweet scent attracting buzzing bees
vibrant colours catching butterflies
sneaking tendril roots into the ground
petals falling off, he loves me, he loves me not.
A little breeze in the air,
shifting from here to there
following currents to new horizons
drifting up and drifting down
lifting and dipping and diving and swirling
creating patterns in the lush green grass
dancing reflections in a still dark pond.
A spider sitting in my web,
watching the world go by
catching a fly or two in my sticky tangle
stretching eight legs as far as they will go
cutting threads with sharp scary teeth
spinning lace of intricate patterns
weaving strands of glistening gossamer.
I want to be…
A tree in the woods,
branches changing with the seasons
roots drinking in the past and future
cosseted by the gentle little breeze,
protection to the fearsome black raven
embellished by the crafty spider’s web
shading the pretty flower in the meadow.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

You are such a lyrical poet, Syb – your words are like music, the rhythm of each piece matched to its mood. This is one of the most beautiful things you’ve written and that is difficult for me to say as I have loved EVERYTHING you do. The image that goes with this piece looks like a meditative prayer and the poem reads much like a hymn too – a hymn to self, to potentiality, to the grace that is you. xox
Dear Lianne, you’re such a sweetheart and your continued support means so much. :-) I am so glad you like this and so glad that I dared put my poetry ‘out there’. xo
