So Hard to Say No

So hard to say No
       when my empathy is torn
listening to your howls of need
shivering with your screams of pain.

So hard to say No
       when my heart is shredded
seeing the monsters of your creation
controlling you with fear and anxiety.

So hard to say No
       when my mind is aquiver
       watching you struggle with nightmares
sending you to madness and hell.

So hard to say No
when I want to stretch out my hand
       soothing your pain
       easing your fears
       returning your reason
       making it all right.

So hard to say No
despite the fact that I know
they’re your monsters of your own making
       they’re your monsters to control
       they’re your monsters to fight
       they’re your monsters to kill
       they’re your monsters to dispel.

So hard to say No
       although I am sure
that I cannot do this for you
that to make it count you have to do this yourself
that to find healing you have to drink the bitter draught
that to find release you have to fight your own war.

Poem inspired by Chitrali’s poem Of men and monsters, true love and me

It made me think….

poem, fear, support, no, monsters, fight, empathy, struggle, anxiety, helping, sybille sterk, magpiemagic

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

Oh wow. I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been in this situation before and it’s so hard to really help even if you want to

  • Sigh, sometimes you just have to let go.:-(

Thanks for the lovely comment. :-)
