Crystal heart of the frozen wastes
tempered by the vagaries of never-winter
moored in flakes of ice white beauty
where the sweet song of birds
and the fragrant scent of blossom
never follow the cold North Wind
where floral beauties
are carved by Jack Frost
into the brittle skin itself.
Crystal heart of the frozen wastes
tempered by the vagaries of never-winter
moored in flakes of ice white beauty
where treasures are hidden
in plain sight for all to see
obscured by mist and fog
where ravages of time
have left their mark
in secret runes upon the frost.
Crystal heart of the frozen wastes
tempered by the vagaries of never-winter
moored in flakes of ice white beauty
where memories are frozen
and beauty leaves you shivering
no shelter and no respite
where no one goes
and no one stays
unless the choice is none.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

You have a wonderful way of twisting us among your words… persuading us to join you within the verse…. Really a gem of splendor!!!!

The cold of this was stark but I did not find it sad to me but more a reality to know if this be where a heart may be ….then respect the winter….It will not always be winter was what a voice said in between your lines to me…
And the heart will one day melt with with the right kind of heart heat …but for now it is frozen in time…
Well I have burbled on as I do…. some verses just make you think a little more you see…xxx
Thank you so much KarenSue. It’s lovely that it made you think. :-)

Just extraordinary and such an exquisite accompaniment to that gorgeous image. The flow and the imagery here are perfection but there is something about a heart of crystal that leaves me feeling so melancholy. Beautiful to look at but so hard. Stunning piece.
Thank you Lianne. :-) I am glad the melancholy came across. :-)

Great write, and congrats on feature. I am loving your writing….superb imagery and evocation of the senses. You have hidden this talent under a bushel for a long time….I am so glad to see it resurface…..a real priviledge.
Thank you so much Cos. :-) It took me a long time to feel confident enough in English to write in it, so that’s part of why… however, I am also no good at ‘rhyming’ and the ‘traditional’ way of writing poems so it took me a long time to find a way to express myself in poetry without feeling that it wasn’t good enough…

Thank you so much. Those are my favourite lines too! LOL I am so pleased with how it all turned out and goes together. It’s from the heart and close to my heart – the whole series. :-)
