This is a story within a story – it’s the story of Jack the Ripper mutilating and killing prostitutes and other serial (women) killers like him but also the story of feminism. There’s still a lot of fear and hate about and people are still boxing women in – from the models in the magazines (all looking pretty and ever so sexy) to women being told they cannot have abortions in the States… there’s still a lot of work to do and some of it is realising that there is still a lot of work to do.

I am not saying no achievements have been made, but sometimes I wonder how deep they go and how many of the preconceptions and misconceptions of women seem to just have received different, more acceptable labels.

Wow, Sybille, this is so urban and out-of-the-box for the images you’ve been developing as of late. And graphic! I love the point of inspiration; it feeds off of so many of the things we’ve all been talking about recently. xox

  • Thank you so much Jenifer. :-) I am not normally quite as brutal with my images, but for this one it seemed totally right. Sometimes you need to shock to make people think. :-) xoxo

This is far different from anything I recall of your work. This is powerfully created and expressed with an important message to all society.

“Boxing in women” is sad and unfortunate but well put on your part…get out the message to one and all.

  • Thank you so much Lisa. I’ve done a few that are a bit more ‘raw’ and ‘brutal’:

I think a lot of the agenda to box in women is far more subtle than it used to be and therefore much more difficult to pin point, which makes it harder to work against. xo

I love your work so much Sybille, you are amongst the best of the best digital artists here on RB. Your work in gaining more and more in depth and breadth. The image here is haunting, and the message is so powerful. I think we have made huge strides forward in the past decade, but, as you so well point out, there is still such a long way to go. Women are being boxed in so many subtle ad not so subtle ways. Thank you for bringing this into our consciousness.

  • Wow Anna! Thank you so much for this lovely, lovely comment. :-) I don’t think I’d have grown so much without PPM to make me think about things I’d otherwise might have missed. I sometimes feel that instead of making great leaps forward we’ve just changed them for makeup and a job (on top of all the things we used to do already) and that, although there seems to be more freedom, there are also old and new restraints that seem to go unnoticed, hence the image xoxo

For thinking outside the box… you really came full circle. LOL I know it is not a laughing matter but to inflict us with your biting truth, the fact that we do have a long way to go… when it comes down to caring for women and keeping us all safe from these predators… women are most commonly the victims. This is the very reason that thinking, the type of moral relativism, is justifiable is a joke, i.e. the blame to the Mothers, he didn’t get enough hugging, it was do to the geographical location he came from… for they are just excuses for a killer, excuses used by lawyers, and block us from the truth of psychotics killing women… and they need to be stopped. Great work here Sybille. I see sparks!

  • Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the feature Russel. They mean a lot. I wasn’t sure how the ‘brutality’ of this image would be perceived and to receive a feature for it is just amazing. It is a matter dear to my heart and I couldn’t agree, we make too many excuses. I think all evil is a choice (mental illness maybe excepted, although I am in two minds even about that) and there can’t really be an excuse for this kind of behaviour. Much, much appreciate your insight. :-) xo

What a powerful image, and I agree with your story it is such a shame as it is due to fear and hate I believe, you would think that this day and age it could be different:( love your message and again very powerful image,,love it great job:)xx

  • Thank you so much. :-) I think people often prefer not to see… not to know… it makes life so much easier.
