For Lianne and Lisa who could see the images in my poem Jezebel

Before I started the manipulation I looked up Jezebel on Wikipedia and found out she had a very interesting history. Even the historians can’t seem to quite agree if she was the devil incarnate or just an independent woman who stood up for what she believed.

I used some stock photos and textures for this:

Girl

Ruins (on the left)
Flames

Textures:

Rusty Scratches
Mossy Wall
Destructive News

The rest of the textures and images are mine. I also did a lot of drawing (hair and Alice band, skin colour etc) in Corel Painter plus added lots of my own textures and stock photos.

I am a very creative person and it’s my way of dealing with the world, inside and out. I am only happy when I am making things or painting or writing. There are just not enough hours in the day…. I am into poetry and photo manipulation at the moment and also dabbling in photography. :-)

I prefer to believe that she was strong and independent!! Her, she looks just this. What a great image – and exquisite manip skills. The whole image is so deep and so rounded. I love it.
If you haven’t already done so please add it to Altered By Design

  • Thank you Anna, I agree, I think she was one of those very independent and strong women who ran afoul of a man (in this case a prophet called Elijah). I was very pleased with how it turned out, although RB has saturated it too much AGAIN – it seems to do that to all dark images? A better version can be seen on my blog

I now deliberately lighten up my images before posting because of that problem.
BTW Elijah was one scary prophet!!

Aww – how incredibly wonderful of you!!! I absolutely adore this image and your work lately is so fabulous. But then, you KNOW how I feel about your poetry already! Fantastic fantastic image! And p.s. – I’ll take the second interpretation of who she was – lol!!!

  • I think we all agree about the interpretation. :-) There was a lot of fuss about her wearing makeup to her own execution… LOL

So glad you liked the image. It’s different from the poem, but I decided to make it about the feel rather than the imagery in the poem. :-)

ooohh, yes!…i love the light and shade in this and it’s simply beautiful!…she looks strong, independent, fiery…and of course that’s gonna cause issues to any man who may not’ve been able to handle that!….:):)….love it!…my “MM collection” is growing!…:):)…
    xx chitrali

  • Thank you sweetie! Much appreciated. :-) This was my most challenging one so far. Took me ages to get it right and to look right. :-) Glad you noticed all my effort with the light and shade. It’s more obvious on the copy on my blog…
