Fin

This is the final in my L’Oiseau series – although I am not quite sure about this yet. It feels as if there’s on more lying in wait…. So you’ll have to watch this space.

It refers to the following lines:

‘The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms.’

of T.S. Eliot’s poem ‘The Hollow Men’ and was inspired by it.

There are three more images in the series (so far):

The first in the series is Panier-Avec-L’Oiseau.

The second in the series is Tête-à-Tête.

The third in the series is Métamorphose.

A brief explanation might be in order:
- the cage is actually half seed pod (not a peanut!!!)
- the flowers are poppies, which are used in rememberance of the fallen soldiers here in the UK
- at the back you can faintly see a feather pattern I created specifically for this image
- the sky/clouds is a photograph which I’ve used as a texture
- the leaves framing all the pictures are photographs that I’ve edited and arranged to frame the image.

Extraordinary images, all of them. You have quite an individualistic style. Your heart speaks in deep symbols…...some dark, some revealing, some locked, and the hope of change. This is what’s conveyed to me without words. Nice work.

  • MagpieMagic replied

Thank you. :-) You got it exactly right about the symbols and I am so glad it shines through.

Birds are between sky and earth and therefore part of both, so in a way they’re our messengers from the subconscious or spirit world. Hence, the birds.

The raven of course is the bird of wisdom.

There are a lot more symbols in there – from the colours I’ve used to the specific flowers in each painting, too many to list. :-)

I do hope this is not the last – I look forward to seeing them so much. It is an exquisite series, full of drama and symbolism, and this one, in particular, is so full of meaning. Fabulous work dear friend.

Thank you Anna. :-) You all made my day today.

... I think there’ll be another one in the series, definitely the final one. It’s still all a bit vague yet, but it’ll come together. :-)
