The wonderful Nuns’ Strand again from atop the cliffs as the sun was getting low. I was drawn by the light on the water by the virgin rock. The Nun’s Strand bears it’s name from the nuns who took up residence in the convent on the cliffs that is no longer their home; at the time nobody else was allowed to use the beach. Before the arrival of the nuns, the beach was known as Doon Bay and the virgin rock was called Carraig Na Faoileán_ (Rock of !the Gulls).
