One of a collection of images I shot at the Asdee races in Kerry Ireland. My first ever race meet shoot. The races are held on a tidal beach and the steward let me out right up to the rope marking the course to take shots. Not even the press had the cheek to ask! I got splattered with wet sand but it was sooooooo exciting.

Canon EOS 450D 18-55mm lens.

Great action shot Paulette, looks a bit different than Newmarket!

  • Thanks George, yes, VERY different I’m sure – not that I’ve ever been to a horse race in my life before! It was great. :)

fantastic shot…and not using a long lens either…it is a wonder you didn’t get trampled…

  • Many thanks James. I was right on the corner and tried with the zoom but they were too close! There was just had a thin rope and a post in the sand between us – the horses were looking right at me as they approached, the ground was pounding and the sand flying up all over me it was amazing.

A truely beautiful capture and an excellent example of the horse racing on the beaches of Ireland.

  • Many thanks Gerry for your great comment :)
