what a great moment to capture.

  • He had just been rather naughty, with a gesture at me – as I was taking so many shots of him at the restaurant table. My face ilicited this response. It is a classic Dan moment that all who know him will recognise. I have a capture of the gesture as well but not sure it’s appropriate for bubble.

Great shot Paulette, love the lighting

  • Thanks Michael. It was pure sunlight through the window but I’m sure you can tell that.

stunning light work..intense and praise of darkness..i like very much, Paulette…you have took here a nice shyness hide on that enough light that full him.. keep …and try it in B&W’s

  • Thank you so much for favouriting this, feel very honoured. I did try black and white first but it seemed lacking slightly (will send you a copy to judge for yourself). I then just slid the colour saturation up a tad to bring in this warmth which I felt was more ‘Dan’.

Ah, Dan – one of my favorite people! this is a wonderful capture of him, his eyes say it all, and I can just see that gesture!!!!

  • Mmm, you know him only too well Tess. Got a series of great emotions from him and he was so intrigued with it all, kept smiling and concentrating, taking it all in. He loved it. And you know he said those immortal words ‘my brother taught me that!’

    beautiful lighting

  • Thank you so much Antanas, my first venture into portraits. I went to ’botticcelli ’ whose portrait work is excellent to ask his opinion on this (his comment is above) and he has taken a selection of my other pictures and worked his magic on them; they will go on his site soon.

Excellent slice of life. Your use of specular light has created a kind of design and an approach towards the abstract.

  • Thank you very much yurilev, I’ll certainly pay particular attention to the light in any future portrait shots – it was the sun on his face that sent me reaching for my camera.
