This is one of the numerous fishing huts or ‘carrelets’ that dot the shoreline of the Gironde estuary on the west coast of France. The huts are built on stilts with their characteristic square fishing nets suspended at the front. They remind me slightly of the beaks of a pelican, which isn’t surprising I suppose, as they both serve a similar function.

Margaret, I love your style and this is another fine example of “less is best”. Beautifully executed and a wall hanger for certain.
