The Cardinal............(Ipomoea horsfalliae) by

This would have to be my all time favourite creeper. I’ve been trying for weeks to get just the right shot. I think this is the best I can do. I had four of them when I bought this house, but after about 10 years my pavers were heading skyward. After digging I found tubers the size of watermellons from my Cardinal Creepers. Broke my heart to have to replace them.

Absolutely gorgeous capture, flower and colour. We have these in England but they are blue and called morning glory, and in white called convolvulus. (convolvulus is a garden pest and chokes other plants by wrapping itself around them, it is also called bindweed)

lovely – the waxiness of the petals is amazing and the buds in shadow add texture – a stunning image
