Wonderful Capture, have never seen a dove lke this one !

  • Magee replied

Is that right Dorothy!! They’re quite commonplace on the East Coast of Aus, but I’ve never really paid them much attention until they started viviting my feeder. Being as close as I am to them now, thanks to the ‘hide’ I concocted, made me realize just how pretty they really are. Thank you my friend. xx

Wow Robyn!!...You must have your settings spot on!!!....This is absolutely stunning!!... :-))

  • Magee replied

Goly gosh Sue!! Thank you! I’m still learing. More often that not, I find I get frustrated with the lack of detail the 55-250mm lens is giving me. So much so, that I feel like my shots have taken a giant step backwards, so your kind words have given me heart. xx

    Michael Rowley...

nice crystal clear shot Rob….where you been hiding ?

  • Magee replied

Thanks Mick!!! How’re you doing my friend! Wish I could say I’ve been hiding in Tahiti, working on a suntan. Sounds a hell of a lot better than working my fingers to to bone on chores around home. x

Quicherbichin! This is a great shot of some overgrown sparrow but I don’t see no turtle nowhur! Nice that you can find the time to show up now and then!

  • Magee replied

Lucky for you I’ve already turned off the ‘putor, and gone to bed!

Busier than a bee in springtime Jack!! :-)
I’ve not only moved houses, but have been prep’ing one for the rental market, as well as working 10 hours a day on this new one, getting the grounds ready for my son’s wedding on the 10th of next month. It’s a gorgeous 1 and a half acre balinese themed property, that looks like a resort, but it did need work to make it look really smart, so I’ve donned my landscaping hat and gone my hardest. It’s looking sensational!! Hope you’re keeping well my friend. xx

Hello darling lady! Wonderful to see you again. :)
This is a gorgeous capture – such a pretty bird.

If your lens is frustrating you, I can highly recommend the excellent little DSLR course offerd here and also this website has been very helpful. :) xx

  • Magee replied

Hello sweetie!! Gosh! Been a while hey, but I know you know what I’m going through with a property this size. ;-)
Thank you for those links. I will definately investigate! xxxx

Great image Robyn, perfect dof and sharpness.

  • Magee replied

Very kind of you to say so Ian. Thank you so very much!!

  • Steve Taylor

    Steve Taylor

This sure looks sharp. Good dof also. Are you using a tripod.

  • Magee replied

Sure am Steve! I’ve set up a hide, about 10 feet from the feeder. Not sure if I’ve not bought the right camera, or if I’m simply not using the appropriate lens, but I get so frustrated when I can’t see good definition. I have the most gorgeous, big, white cockatoos, feeding daily on seed-pods hanging from a tree right outside my bedroom. They’re about 20 feet above my head, and do you think I can get a good shot. They just look all white! I want to see feather definition. What lens should I be using Steve?? :-/

Lovely. and clear!!! ps I often wonder if I would have survived if I had had to rely on film … with the numbers of shots that I sometimes take … I would be in the Poor House. Take heart. This shot is a beauty!!
