Magda Vacariu
Profile
I was born in Romania and I started taking art classes as a small child. I immigrated to Australia in 2001, I lived in Adelaide and Melbourne and exhibited in Sydney. I studied painting and drawing at Adelaide Central School of Art with Christopher Orchard. I met Robert Hannaford in 2005 in Adelaide, and his portraiture together with the art of Charles Blackman and Valeriu Mladin influenced my work.
In the portrait series I explore the simple beauty and unmasked joy of living the moment. I have engaged in a perpetual search and rediscovery of the intensity of the moment, a constant reconstruction and recreation of life itself.
Currently living and painting in beautiful Brasov, in the Romanian mountains.
