Linda and the daughter that never came, Hawaiian night at the old folks home.
Linda is another resident of the Rest Home. Tonight was Hawaian night and colourful clothing and bright flowers were in evidence. This highlighted the sad fact that most of the rooms were bare of personal belongings and the colours of some residents skin had literally merged into the wall making them appear “part of the furniture” as such. Linda was lovely, soft and childlike. She smelt like cheap but familar perfume and brought back childhood memories of my grandmother.

she is so beautiful and your title is so sad. I have been several times to sing at different rest homes, and I am more blessed than the residents are.
fabulous, touching photo.

Excellent work, but sad. Images and stories such as Linda’s need to be told. She’s a beautiful woman.

Thanks Cora, your input is great. For some reason Linda and her room really got to me. I was invited to be with her while she was dressing so I have some pretty revealing photos of her which will never be shown, but it just showed me the sadness some people have in their older lives and lonliness. The old saying There for the Grace of God go I was always in my mind, a saying my grandmother used to use when she felt I needed to wake my ideas up…Im not sure that it actually worked though!
Dayonda
She looks beautiful!
And also like my grandmother when she neared 100 years.
Nursing homes are so cruel, and such life-shortening things! I found dozens of violations when first my aunt, then my mother were in the homes. Our family visits once a day, so there were people they knew (or didn’t remember they knew) in and out all day to sit with them, and watch out for them.

Thanks so much Dayonda….nice to know someone looks out for the elderly
