Brisbane Street In Launceston, Tasmania. I’m not old enough to have taken the B&W, which is held by the Archives Office.
The hard bit was standing in the same spot as the original photographer (now a busy road) in the middle of the day and trying to get the same shot. The blending after that was safer.
The old cars are now gone, the streets are now one way, and there is not a policeman on every corner.
The image is two photos edited together using several layers in CS5. I was very pleased when this montage was awarded an editors choice in June 2011 by the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP).
