Red Carnation is a importante flower to portuguese people and for many Portuguese the meaning of the Red Carnation will always be associated with the revolution of April 1974.
The carnation became the symbol of the revolution of April 1974 in Portugal: With the arrival of people to the streets to support the rebel soldiers, someone (there are several versions), started the distribution of red carnations to the soldiers, who quickly put them on the tubes of their rifles.
The dominant red color and April was a coincidence, but perfectly connected with the objectives of the revolution and that this color (Blood and Fire) is the symbol of the fundamental principle of life, with his strength, power and brightness.
