Hommage to Daniel Filipe
“In every corner of the city,
in the walls of the bars, on the doors of public buildings, in the windows of buses,
even in this ruined wall, among advertisements of radio and detergents,
in the window of a little store where no one goes,
in the lobby of the railway station that was home to our hope of escape,
a poster denouncing our love.
In huge letters, in the size of
fear, loneliness, anguish,
one poster complained that a man and a woman,
met in a hotel bar
invented love with a matter of urgency
dropping of the shoulders, the burden of cumbersome daily monotony.”
