Before you kill a fly
I’d like to ask you
(if it’s not to much trouble)
to go online and try to find
Pat Eyestrange on Redbubble
It’s true, I never heard of her
and never looked her in the eye
but check out the pictures that she takes
my God, they really fly!
I used to hate all insects
that kept me up at night
and walked around on doggie poop
just such a nasty sight.
But then Pat showed me the details
of the tiniest little fly
it’s delicate wings, and gorgeous eyes
so pretty, I could cry!
So now I’m in love with insects
and with Pat. Although that’s just platonic
Me, of all people, who hated flies
writing poems about them
now, isn’t that ironic?
Just look at Pat’s pictures
and buy some while your there
to show respect to Eystrange art
and to show the insects that you care.
Just think of all the family members
of that precious creature, about to die.
All I ask of you, is to consider this
before you kill a fly.

well – I guess I’ll go check out Pat Eyestrange – and I am impressed with your poem! I have some close-ups of some different flies too. I even used to hate spiders but not anymore..they do have personality! Thank you Macmichael..
