Devils Peak lies to the left of and is attached to Table Mountain. The fire apparently started at 21h30 last night and by midnight ( when I took this photograph) was out of control. This morning the blaze had spread across Table Mountain destroying everything in it’s path. Residents along the mountain side had to be evacuated. The loss of flora and fauna is however immeasurable. Fire fighters are working frantically to control the fire which is being fanned by strong southerly winds. This morning, at daybreak, water bombing by helicopters was put into operation.
Heard about it in the news last night but this is the first image I’ve seen and it brings home the magnitude and scope of the blaze. The Cape’s been having a hard time with the weather and fires this year.
