The Cats rule the Nights:
Every dog may have his day
In the sun always ready to play
Running around and sniffing the flowers
Throughout the day enjoying the hours
As the sky becomes void of the morning light
Cats become the rulers of the night
Under the blossoms two meet in the park
With heads and legs so close they form a heart…
When Two becomes One:
Head to head, toe to toe
Always together wherever we go
To share the same joy and the same pain
In the sunshine and under the rain
In two bodies a single heartbeat runs
True love is born when two becomes one
(both poems above written by me)
The cats were folded from a single rectangular piece
I divided the rectangle to two 15×15mm squares; cut the rectangle part way only leaving a bit for the heads to join
The swing is the same heart necklace I used in Puppy on a Neckleash. I ran the chain through a straw supported at the ends by laundry clips. The flowers are from a flower pot, and the pine tree in the distance is a pine cone. The grass is a velvet green shirt.
I’m still getting the hang of my brother’s camera (A Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS – which is more or less becoming my camera now; hehehe…) and this is the first time I used it for one of my miniature origami pieces. It was a bit of challenge as the macro feature on that camera is different – I got used to the macro on my Olympus FE-340 – but my brother’s camera offer a higher resolution – in time I shall master it… Although the difficulty in producing this piece was more so because of the complicated set-up (see my reply to the first comment) rather than getting used to a new camera – I’ll elaborate more on that another day. With so many small objects and a small window in my room, focus and lighting was also a challenge. I had to constantly move things around to get things right, and enhanced the lighting (from the window) by using a big mirror – which really helped! (The flowers were sitting on the side closer to the window – composition wise this way it looked better; and also if I had the flower pot on the other side, a rose would have been blocking my “blossoms”)
The piece is inspired by the funny and lovable behaviour of all things living around us – and that includes people; cat couples are not the only ones to meet at night
The bridge above, located in Vicenza, Italy is a common meeting spot for young couples to confess their love…
