Relaxing in Contemplation in the Temporary Season by

Just felt like sharing. I took this today (October 10, 2011) while cleaning up the yard (since is it Thanksgiving here in Canada I had a day off from work). A few days ago a big branch broke off from our tree, and we figured it was time to do some trimming. I was clearing up the yard while playing some music and then spotting this little guy resting on a twig. For a moment I think I even saw it’s head bobbing up and down as though it was listening to the music! So what do I do? I go back into the house to grab my camera. It wasn’t easy to get a good shot since my camera isn’t that great and I didn’t have a surface to keep it still…

That twig the dragonfly was sitting on was only a small part of this big mess

So yes, it wasn’t easy taking a pic – couldn’t use a tripod either. But I just felt like sharing – I was in the moment where I was feeling like a kid again being amused by the smallest things – and the little guy was cooperating very well! I was afraid it would fly away if I got too close, but it just stood there – too bad my camera couldn’t be still enough most of the time.

It was also exciting because I don’t commonly see dragonflies; and hence don’t generally take pictures of them. It was the first time to see one in my neighborhood. It’s autumn right now, and the past week we had some cold days, though this weekend has been nice and warm. These moments are only temporary though; and perhaps the dragonfly could sense something was going to change as it watched all the leaves being thrown away. These guys are soon going to be gone too when the cold comes…

Hoping to be more active here again soon; I’m not here much now since life is so busy these days, but sometimes … I can appreciate what I may usually overlook during stressful times and just have a need to share it. These little moments come and go – just like the seasons and the creatures…

beautiful know how that is strong storms came through during the summer and knocked over 2 trees plus half of another first year tornadic activities came close to home it wasnt here but in the next town over
    great shot

  • I know in parts of the US tornadoes and hurricanes are common. In Canada, natural disasters don’t occur – that’s what I learned back in elementary school anyways, but I guess times are changing; especially with global warming. Last year I even felt a bit of an earthquake here! The past few years there have been a lot of rainy days but this year it’s been even crazier; some days it was so hot (the hottest weather on record around here) and some days you walk through floods up to your knees.
