Created this during the summer of 2011. This summer is a Cold Summer

All three images were from the same day taken in 2009. The image on the bottom right corner is my Breathing Dragon Cloud and the top right is Pheonix Cloud

There was also a rainbow that day; however I couldn’t get any really nice shots of it because of ugly street lights in the way; though for the sake of this collage I have cropped those out.

It is kind of funny when I look back at this phenomenon that all happened at once. It was already interesting enough to see animals in the sky, but furthermore, it turns out these creatures do have a common symbolic reference. In China, the dragon and the phoenix are traditional animals symbolic of auspiciousness. But not only that, the Dragon had the power to control rain! So it was funny to see the Dragon in the sky after the rain! And what else comes after the rain? Rainbows! Dragons were considered the mounts of heavenly deities. The phoenix embodies the five virtues of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and sincerity. It eats and drinks nothing but bamboo seed and sweet spring water.

Any reported sighting of a dragon and a phoenix was considered an extremely auspicious sign, said to herald a glorious period of peace and prosperity for the people and the country. This is reflected in the Chinese saying, “When the dragon soars and the phoenix dances, the people will enjoy happiness for years, bringing peace and tranquility to all under heaven.”
