Let the magic unfurl in the wake of night,
As the city shines with splendid light.

Within the heart of modern activity,
There is preserved a piece of history.

Today will someday be called the past.
Good night Big Ben, take the year to a rest.

Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on Jan 1 2009; London, UK. Big Ben and the London Eye illuminating on the night of New Years 2009 – Just after the ending of my Rome exchange, and just before a new beginning for me as I was to start my internship in London. The night before I saw the London eye fireworks, and the following morning watched the New Year’s parade, then did a whole day of site seeing. This image is also a part of my London Calendar – the image itself was on private before and now I’m showing it publicly.

Big Ben is the nickname of the bell inside the clock tower (now called the Elizabeth Tower), which was completed in 1858.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Silent Night, Holy Night…
