Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana in Italian) is a large Roman archaeological complex at Tivoli, Italy.
Emperor Hadrian was the third of the “Five Good Emperors”. Though when life in the palace was too much for him, he needed a place to retreat. He therefore had a villa built in Tivoli as his retreat from Rome; though eventually he began governing the Roman empire from the villa.
