Artist's Description

Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana in Italian) is a large Roman archaeological complex at Tivoli, Italy.

(Source: Wikipedia)

Emperor Hadrian was the third of the “Five Good Emperors”. Though when life in the palace was too much for him, he needed a place to retreat. He therefore had a villa built in Tivoli as his retreat from Rome; though eventually he began governing the Roman empire from the villa.

Taken on October 10, 2008
Tivoli, Italy

On this day we first visited Villa d’Este:

It was a very rainy day and was rather glum by the time we got to the Villa.

This photo is an edited version of this :

The photo was taken with an Olympus FE-220 and edited in Photoshop.
