Wandering about in solitude alone,
Exploring the ancient city of Rome.
Taken in Rome just before my exchange studies began. Every last Sunday of each month, admission to the Vatican Museum is free, and so on the last Sunday before the start of school. I decided to pay a visit after visiting Castel San Angelo; the brown castle shown to the right at the end of the bridge, Ponte San Angelo, crossing the Tiber River. There was a long line up, and anyone wearing shorts or sleeveless tops are not inside the Vatican Museum – so unfortunately, some waited a long time in line only to be dismissed (luckily, since I’ve read Dan Brown’s “Angels and Demons” before, I knew I had to be careful about the way I dress when visiting certain places in Rome.)
The church behind the bridge is St. Peter’s Basilica, which I re-visited later that day (I also went there the day before since my supervisor from the internship I had just finished told me that was the one place in Rome I should not miss) – again the dress code also applies here. While I was there, I ran into a few of my classmates, who told me that two other female classmates were waiting outside (who were not allowed in).
As is, taken August 31, 2008 with an Olympus FE-220 – two days before starting school in this city; farewell to my vacation.
