Exquisite. Such magic and beauty in such a small and mostly overlooked item. Wonderful work.

  • Thanks for the lovely comment Paul. You’re right, these things do get overlooked and it’s interesting to see small things in a different perspective. Meanwhile overlooked items are often hard to capture. It wasn’t that easy getting this shot since the acetate cup was being flimsy whle putting my camera against it and the bubbles are small.

You can see wonder in everything. In physics it is called adhesion-the attraction of like molecules. Very nice.

  • Thanks Lori. It was interesting getting theses bubbles in my folded cup; I don’t often see this in glass cups (excluding when they are filled with soda). I guess acetate has a greater force of adhesion than glass. Oh physics… it was all coming back to me as I saw reflections and refraction in the water and the acetate surface.

With glass containers we ususally see cohesion, the attraction of like molecules. Try filling a spooon as much as you can. If you look across the top the water peaks in the middle of the spoon. i love talking physics.

  • ah yes, the water in a test tube would be either concave or convex depending on the adhesive and cohesive forces. This discussion is being pulled into chemistry.

Yes, and i love it. Art can be thought provoking. Your picture made for some good discussion.

fascinating Mui-Ling, i love your description…it gives an insight into your curiousity and how your mind ticks :)

  • Thanks Karin. It also led to a lot of physics conversation :P
