A new year to see new things, go to new places, and meet new people… in face… My first real life bubbler encounter!
Happy New Year Everyone! School is finally OVER! And now I’m in London doing whatever sightseeing I can before I start my new internship. As some of you may remember, I arrived here on the 18th, but I still had a school assignment to complete over the holidays (so much for my Christmas…). But now time has freed up again. I’ve missed this community so much! I have been far less active since I started school again in September; I still came on once in a while but I was much more active before as I was an RB addict ;) Now I am catching up again. But not only will I be catching with bubblers online, but in reality too …
On New Year’s eve I met up with Gaurav who is now officially the first RB member I’ve met face to face (we’ve know each on the bubbler since March 2008). Meeting someone face to face after only knowing them for a long time online is rather interesting; I think it is wonderful how this art community brings people together. So I got to learn other things about Gaurav aside from his photography; such as his home-cooking (it was the first time for me to have home-cooked Indian food and it was good!), and he got to learn that I suck at virtual tennis :P.
We saw the New Year’s fireworks at the London Eye, and it was great. It is nice meeting face to face; especially since both of us have been too busy these past few months to be on the bubble (although my time is now freeing up); perhaps I’ll meet up with more of my favourite UK bubblers while I’m here as I catch up on RB again; that’s my New Year’s Resolution this year :)
And here is a preview of the fireworks; wasn’t easy getting pictures since the area was crowded and I don’t use a tripod.

Happy New Year, Mui-Ling. I am so glad you got to met your fellow RB friend. I am not great at Wii tennis either. I used to play for the bay area team in Tampa, FL. I am glad you are having a good time. xx
Mui-Ling Teh replied
I sucked at real tennis as well :P; though this Wii one was even harder (hard to explain). Happy New Year Lori!

Akemashite omedetou Midori! It was almost 3am as I was getting ready for bed after the fireworks, but I made the attempt to write to my former shochou in Japan since New Year’s in Japan would have been over sooner… Oh dear, Midori you’re also in an earlier time zone than me, it’s already the 2nd there isn’t it? Osokatte gomen ne! Shinnen akemashite omedetou! I wish you well and hope you have a wonderful year!

Glad you’ve had a nice time. I look forward to seing more of your creations during 2009.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thanks Dave. I was originally thinking that I’d be able to see you as well, but I realized Blyth is really far from London… Well time can only tell; it’s nice knowing you anyhow even if it’s just online. Happy New Year!

Hey! Thanks for all the appreciation :D ..glad to know your thoughts and glad to know that you enjoyed it.
How was the parade today?..did you manage to see anything :)
I will mail you the pics tonight…....
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Hey! The parade was good. It was really crowded as I got out of the station and in the beginning it was so hard to get through. I decided to go for lunch, and after lunch I managed to get a good spot. After the parade was over (from my viewing spot) I did more sightseeing around the area: I saw Trafalgar square (I was watching the parade not too far from there), and bought 12 postcards for 1 pound! It makes me wonder why that same store would also, at a different rack, sell 4 for 2 pounds. I visited another one close to it after and they were selling 12 for 95 pence; sigh… well it’s only 5 pence difference.
I also saw the Horse Guards, went into the Horse Guards Parade, and visited St. James’s Park, which had so many different kinds of birds. I remember seeing new species of birds in Hyde Park, but here there were more. I don’t see that many species in Canada (unless I’m in the zoo), I think London has more Canadian geese than Canada does :P. I also saw the Queen Victoria Memorial; didn’t get too up close to it though because it was getting cold and I was eager to get to the Big Ben up close. After seeing Big Ben, made my way back through the bridge we saw the fireworks from, and crossed the Hungerford Bridge. I like London; there is a lot to see. It’s unfortunate about the cold though; I may revisit these places again once it gets warmer.

That happened once before when someone from Redbubble was visiting London and asked if they’d see me. When I go on my rare excursions to London by coach it takes me six hours :) You will (probably already do) love London. It used to be my favourite city until I discovered Paris. Enjoy your stay. If ever you decide to tour England, let me know if you will be visiting the north east.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Well who knows, maybe one of those rare excursions to London will happen during my stay; if so let me know :)

RedBubble encounters of the third kind. Glad you had fun hun. Meeting up with net friends is always interesting. I know the school work seems to take over your life sometimes, but it will all be worth it in just a few years. Be patient, and hang in there. Have a wonderful New Year. :D
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank mobii. While I’m meeting up with net friends I’m also making new ones here like yourself :) Happy New Year!
