Mui-Ling Teh

I've moved!!! And I go away again tomorrow!!!

Hello all! Just got through a really busy week; had a project deadline at school (that big planning project I was stressing about in my last journal) two days ago, which was presented yesterday. Because of this big project I did not have time to pack until yesterday evening. Well since I didn’t bring a lot to Rome initially I didn’t stay up too late packing – I needed to arrive early today so luckily I could get enough sleep.

This new place is big! I have a real desk this time! It looks over the Aventine Hill! The only downside is my place is not as close to the supermarket as my previous; although since it is on the way to school, I can just buy things on the way back; and this time I live close enough to go shopping between classes :D.

I’ve added photos of my new place; see here
(This album also contains photos of my previous apartment and the area around my school)

Well despite that I have just settled in here, I’m going away again! Our class will be gone for a field trip tomorrow, and coming back on the evening of the 27th; this is a long field trip. We’re going north visiting Montepulchiano, Pienza, Siena, Gubbio, Urbine, Parma, Sabbioneta, Mantova, Verona, Vicenza, S. Vito Altivole and Venice. So I’ll be away from RB again.

School has been really stressful, but I do look forward to the field trip :). Somehow I’ve run into a lot of random bad luck here; but there have been long term periods of my life in Canada where that has occured as well. Since my school and internship terms rotate every four months; they seem to break down periods of my life where I can say which was good and which was bad. Hopefully moving to this bigger and more conveniant place will help me operate more carefully and productively.

Hey Mui-Ling – is all that space yours? You’ll be very spoilt if it is, compared to the last place. My best friend is Italian and all the furnishings and decor remind me of his mum and dad’s house.

Busy, busy, busy again Mui-Ling – this trip will be over before you know it.

    Stay calm,
    Love
    Rory

PS When the dust settles remind me to have a chat to you about luck….

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

Well I doubt I’ll be spending any time in the dining or living area since I’ll be very busy – usually during a school term I only come home to work, eat, shower, and sleep. In my previous apartment, I originally had a tv in my room next to my bed; but I knew I was not going watch it anyways so I had it removed so that I could have more space to place my personal belongings. I’ll take photos of my room later at some point – after I clear away my junk ;)

I’m still unpacking as well – it’s funny, I got some bookshelves a couple of days ago but most of my books are still on the floor because I’ve become so used to finding things down there when I need them. Sometimes we adapt and become comfortable doing things the ‘wrong’ way.

Look forward to your junkless pics ;o)

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

SO TRUE!!!!!! It’s just easy to grab what you need when they are already in front of you :P. But there is also the matter that I have big luggages that will look ugly in a photo no matter how tidy I make them. So maybe I’ll take a picture of my room just before I move out.

Aaah, you’ve got the perfect mind for an architect – attention to detail!

Is it 10pm over there? It’s 7am Sunday in Tasmania, cloudy but a beautiful day about to arrive I think.

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

Yeah it’s 10:04pm now. My bus leaves at 7:30am tomorrow in a piazza about a 20min walk from here so I’m going to call it a night. Good night/morning Rory.

I love your new place Mui-Ling, now you’ll have room to breathe, and do a little jig if you feel so inclined LOL.. heck you could have a party in this space :))) we miss you, but it’s so good to keep hearing from you, it’s like you’ve not left at all really!!! take care sweet princess :)

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

Hi Karin! I came back last night. I’m glad you feel that I haven’t left at all. It’s been difficult keeping up with my school work while I lived far b/c I needed to use my comp; which would be at home and would have been to troublesome to go home between classes just to do work so I end up wasting time. Now the living situation is easier; but I need to be catching up, which will probably affect my time here greatly – though then again I do like to escape to this lovely community when life gets stressful :)
