You’re right—sunshine deserves golden creatures, and this one glows in the light. I would like to have a karp pond.

ooo…I have always wanted one. I have a fairly good sized ornamental pond…about 800 gallons…is about 12×15 feet…and many shubunkin and comets and one Koi. Carp are fun creatures and they put to rest that nonsense about fish having 4 second memories…mine know exactly who i am…by my voice or even footfalls only…and rush to be fed every spring after sleeping all winter.

    That’s cute, thanks for sharing.

Yeah…i think the carp was accidentally crossed with the pig. Good eaters.

Oh yes karps are good eaters. In the feeding areas of Japanese Shrines you can see their mouths bobbing getting ready to catch food. I have a photo called “Bobbing Mouths” in my portfolio, although in that shot, I think the karps were trying to get oxygen from the air because it was really hot that day (or they thought I had food?)

Yeah…actually they will gulp for a variety of reasons…one being to get more air.
