Parallel Moments in Permanence
Medium: ball point pens and markers on acetate
The diptych presents several relationships: the position of the diamond flower corresponds to that of the diamond snowflakes. Both images have organic shapes taken from nature, one from spring, the other from winter. The flower has a rough texture and is over a smooth background, while the snowflake has a smooth texture while being over a rough background.
Flowers and snowflakes both pertain to seasons; both temporary, and occurring in one phase after another. A snowflake or a flower is barely seen at once outdoors, but here they are made of diamonds, hence they are permanent, and existing at the same time: two parallel moments.

it’s time consuming and not always easy i agree…. but i think it helps each other as artists to hear what any particular artist has to say about their own work….. i’m guilty of not saying much myself…..............b

Sometimes it is also the case where I drew something just because I felt like it, but don’t have much to say about it otherwise. My “Reflection in a Ball” for example, I drew because I was holding a plastic toy bowling ball, and was somewhat able to see my reflection in it, and thought it would be pretty neat to draw a reflective ball.

well see…there ya go… i find that interesting as well….:) i guess i’m finding lately that more people are asking me about how and why…........ conversely and unfortunately more people are dropping off gratuitous commnets that show no thought….:(

Yeah, I know what you mean; it’s always nice to hear a comment that tells the viewer finds something unique about your work as opposed to a simple compliment. Although I’m guilty of dropping some of those myself; every work I commented on are ones I like, however, I’m not always the best with words.

The diamond flower shares teh colours of the sun. The snowflake shares the colours of the moon.
They are in essential crystals…and so magnificent for containing on both Life…
Your words are also very inspiring…dyptics have a magic one is looking for their relationship..in this case they are the perfect composition or an inner vision of the Yang-Ying force of Life.Besides that aesthetically is beautiful in all exttension.

I came again to it, it seemed familiar…and I the I saw my comment.
I read with attentio your words, and sound, so logical and poetic at the same time.
Simplicity is hard to find. I adore it, and understand it, but also, it underlies, a complicated organic order. That of flowers and snowflakes, they both keep a center as the vortex of their development….their growing. And there all the miracles are produced. So I hope that we too, will feel the miraculous in us, when perfectly centered.
