Great drawing. The reflection is done really well, bright and blinding. Were you inflluenced by M.C.Escher when you did this? Wonderful image.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you. Actually I didn’t know M.C. Escher yet when I drew this, although I was at the point were I felt that my strongest areas were in art and math; which led to my decision to study architecture. I can see why you see Escher’s influence here due to the play in perspective with the reflection. I have drawn a few other images with the fisheye perspective before; maybe I should around for those.

parden my typo; I meant to say “maybe I should LOOK around for those”

I thought it was an homage to this Escher self-portrait at first; but reading the comments I’m amazed to see you came up with this on your own and then discovered Escher! I believe you will go far with such natural talent!
Mui-Ling Teh
Yeah it’s very ironic isn’t. At the same time Escher studied architecture which I am studying now (although he quitted). It truly is a coincidence; I really wasn’t thinking of Escher at the time; but it certainly is very similar to his drawing. I just saw a faint reflection on a plastic bowling ball, and decided to draw it; that’s why my reflection is not very clear; while Escher’s reflection is an actual clear self-portrait.

Great image. Seems you have had plenty of comments about Escher; best to leave it at that.
