Shiroyama
Taken May 20 2007 with a Fuji E-510.
See my Miura Coast calendar.
This rock in, known as Shiroyama, is located Arasaki Park (Yokosuka, Japan). Yokosuka is a city in Miura near Hayama, the town where I did my internship. Hayama is renowned for the beach and green hills, and this place was just a drive down.
Hayama literally means “leaf mountain” in Japanese, and indeed Hayama is full of green mountains. The coast of Yokosuka, Hayama; along with other cities in Miura are popular for their beaches and offer a rich experience with nature.

This landscape is so like the Japanese paintings, and I thought they had a special way of painting the nature, now I see that the nature is special. I think this looks even better framed.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
You’re right iCandor. I was very fascinated by the sculptural form of this rock. When I went back to school, I showed photos to classmates and they were fascinated by Hayama’s scenery.

What a treasure, to see this, like Bonsai Trees, Excellently Composed, I see where so much Japanese Carvings are inspired by true Land scapes, and how much this lends to a creative Spirit.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
It truly is a beautiful place. Thanks!

Excellent image and composition. Reminds me of japanese and chinese paintings of many years in time.

Those paintings were probably inspired by landscapes like these. Thanks again for your comment and favs.

I like the way the curves of the rocks mimic those of the tree tops. A very serene scene.

Isn’t nature wonderful.!!
If I was still doing bonsai as a hobby I’d be using this as a template for my root over rock, windswept multi tree planting.
Cheers Neil

Some people think that the Japanese people is crazy, just by taking the trees and “dwarfing” them into twisted creatures with uncertain healthy life, due to the severe transformation of the same ones…but I can see that no art no technique is but a design previously essayed by Nature itself. And for that reason, I understand the love that the artists feel for these so Taoist for of contemplating the Earth and the Creatures living in them, and the fondness for trees, plants, flowers, derivated from the same type of environ.
This is beautiful.. a dream for a any quick-hearted water-colour artist…
I love this place, Mui.

This is so like a Chinese Brush Painting…I have painted trees ike those many times…lovely capture Mui-Ling
Mui-Ling Teh replied
I seem to get comments like that a lot on this image; it seems to be something which is greatly reminiscent of Chinese and Japanese paintings as well as bonsai. This was also my driving inspiration for my Drawing Day Purple Bonsai Island
