Nessie's Lair
The Loch Ness monster is one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology and has been affectionately referred to by the nickname Nessie

So back when I was doing my internship in London, that mobii decided to throw another challenge at me despite that I was busy and didn’t have time :P I also couldn’t come up with a clever idea for a long time; I don’t simply like to fold something small and snap a photo of it; I like to create a scenario.
Last night in my sleep an idea occured to me and today I did some experiments with glass bottles and flashlights to create some watery effects. It was rather fun.
Nessie was folded from a 6×6mm piece of paper. This photo was taken with an Olympus FE-340, Septembre 21, 2009.
For a better idea of scale:

A micro Monster,
You are most certainly one of many talents Mui-Ling
Mui-Ling Teh replied
lol, yeah it is a micro monster :P
Speaking of which; there are many rumours about Nessie spottings being mistaken for other things. After all, if you just see it in water itself without any other scale references, you don’t know how big a thing you are looking at. Some say that what looks like the head and neck could just be an elephant trunk or a toy submerine. And what looks like a giant monster swimming in the lake could just be a small creature or a bunch of small creatures moving quickly.

My daughter has a Nessie shirt that I bought her years ago from a Scottish import store. A great legend and a great picture. xo

I’m curious now :) Thank you for your lovely comment Lori! xo

You did it! Wonderful work Mui-Ling. I realized too late that I was commenting on your post on my own page. Sorry about that. Such a wonderful photo effect. I knew you would step up to a challenge. :)

I find it sad that every photo of Nessie has been exposed as a fraud. It doesn’t really matter if she is real or not. Maybe somethings should just be enjoyed and left alone.

WOW O WOW… how did you fold it that small…. its stunning i love it brilliant thanks
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you very much jillijude. I use tweezers to do my miniature origami; sometimes needles as well.

Mui-Ling Teh replied
I was just doing research in order to find inspiration for how to present Nessie and often came across those doubts – didn’t let it get to me though :-) Nessie is female??
jacqi
Oh yes! Definitely a female!

Fantastic. Great work

I have been admiring your tiny origami pieces for awhile now and I have to say that they are incredible! How you manage to do such terrific work on such a teeny scale is beyond me! I have trouble trying to make “normal” size simple things! WONDERFUL work!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you for your lovely comment Cathy; and for adding me to your watchlist. It’s kind of funny you came across this and talk about normal sized things; when I first saw your profile pic I thought that was a normal sized Mr. Potato head, but then I see you standing next to it and realize it’s a big potota head. Thanks again for dropping by and hope you have a lovely day :-)
