Dwelling Up

Taken on September 27, 2008 with an Olympus FE-220 looking up.

During our Southern Italy Trip we stayed in Paestum, and on each day took the coach bus for one day trips in another city. On this day we got dropped off to take a ferry to Capri. During the ferry ride we pass by a lot of mountainous islands, and the cities are built upon them. It is fascinating to see these buildings as though they are stacked upon one another. This stop was at Amalfi, a cit at the foot of Monte Cerreto.

This is gorgeous….the overcast sky really shows up the colours of the buildings…

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

I did do a bit of colour and level adjustments here; not a lot though since it was a sunny day already. Thank you Janis.

I love your angle here..you really feel the majesty of height and colour! well done!

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

Thank you Marian. I took several photos of these kind of built up cities on this day, but this is the only one I had at this angle. As I looked through my collection I do quite like this one; even though my other ones show water. Thanks for faving this as well.

Lovely shot showing the way they live – quite the opposite to many parts of Australia where we spread out across the land…..

  • Mui-Ling Teh replied

Same in Canada. As beautiful as these type of cities are; it is quite a treck. When we arrived at Capri, there was a gondola for getting to the higher part. But even there you still have to climb up to get to certain places. I had a good workout on this day…

Wow, Mui-Ling! We had some homes in California that looked like these! (Palm Desert / catherdra City / Palm Springs area. Movie stars and rich folks live there. I, of course, watched from the bottom, expecting them to fall down at any time. The didn’t.
May i suggest a couple more Groups for this?
