3cm Family Swim
I folded the mother duck out of trace paper around the time I saw ducklings on the way to work; can read about that here. I can’t remember how big the paper was; I believe 13×13mm. The two little ducklings in the centre were folded from 6×6mm pieces of trace paper while the little one at the back was folded from a 5×5mm piece of trace paper.
I know mother duck is just behind the 4cm mark, but the duckling at the back is infront of the 1cm mark, hence the duck family is a 3cm spread ^ _ ^
New version added August 21, 2008
Looks great on a card!
Although maybe distracting at work; lol.

You should try with green tea; it’ll be more traditional ;)

Amazing work. I don’t know how you do it so intrique are the details.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you. I wish I wasn’t in a stressed state now, then I could’ve made this better and take more time on it. I had a great urge to do it anyhow; and I needed a break.

Morning Mui-Ling – if this is the version you’re not so happy with, looking forward to the next version….actually I’m pretty sure I like it the way it is, but I know how it feels when something isn’t quite the way you want it.
Mui-Ling Teh replied
I’m glad you like it as it is. It is certainly very difficult to get that ideal look, and I’m not the best photographer – and even if I do a newer one that I like, well I don’t know if others would feel the same. Thanks for the fav :D

just gorgeous and incredible!1
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thank you so much cheryl; glad you like it. It feels good to come back to this – still busy with lots of stuff though.

Oh, i think it’s wonderful, wonderful Mui-Ling…knowing the story behind the ducks n all….
I have such affection for you and all that you do….i love this little duck family,
absolutely sweet and adorable!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thanks Karin! It’s great that you’ve been up to date with my duckling adventures; I think knowing about those makes this more enjoyable.

Hi, Mui-Ling!!
I love the mother bird.
They are swimming~!!
Cuuuuuuuuuuuute!!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
Thanks Midori! I liked the mother bird too. At first I was folding one of the ducklings the same way as the mother, but then it made it look too… grown-up. So I skipped some steps for the ducklings to make them chubbier.
Midori Furze
Great thinking, Mui-Ling!!
I love them more after reading your reply!!
Lots of looooooooove~!!!!

Mui-Ling Teh replied
I’m so glad you like it! I may do another one later, but I have decided regardless to keep this one up. As I’ve told samedog, even if I do a newer one that I like, well I don’t know if others would feel the same. Thanks Paul :)

This in incredible talent you have. With my solar nails, don’t think I could make these, they are so teeny tiny, and adorable. Wonderful art technique!!!
Julie Miles
How adorable! I think I’d loose them as soon as I made them! That seems to be the case with all my origami, and that’s using standard origami sheets, not tiny paper!
Mui-Ling Teh replied
lol, I’ve had lost several while folding from 3×3mm trace that I’d have to start all over again. Thanks for the fav.
